7 Strategies You Need To Know To Make Your Website Stand Out

Ever wondered why when you pass any aromatherapy store the natural instinct is to walk in? The same applies to your website!

I use copywriting, graphic design and storytelling to draw a customer in so they feel more motivated to learning more about you and your services, attracting your ideal client while silently growing your email list.

Today along with my team I work with several business owners helping them create a magnetic digital presence not only via their website, but also on  Social Media. For now, if you struggle with web design, keep reading the 7 Strategies You Need To Know To Make Your Website Stand Out!

Many of these basic steps you can implement today to transform your site from your greatest burden to your greatest asset.

1. Take the First step right away

If you don’t yet have a website (and perhaps have been putting it off).  I recommend you get a domain name and hosting as soon as possible, as it can nip procrastination in the bud.   Just seeing you have a site can be very motivating to take the next steps.   This is the start of your digital store front. You do not however need a full website, but a domain with a landing page is an absolute must.
Now if you want to go a step further go ahead and make sure this name is available on all social platforms.  Now I am not saying you need to be on all, but you do need to have some presence and what better way to do it by keeping a consistent brand across.

2 - Create a Mood Board

This is a virtual representation for your brand –  the feeling you want people to have when they look at your site and everything you do.  Use Pinterest to create a board with pictures and quotes that capture this mood.

Now head to Canva to a mood board, you can extract from it your brand colours and fonts.  You will then use these across your site and any other content you create.  You will use this as a reference whenever you release anything for your brand.

Want to get a bit more fancy, then use this as a guide for all of your social content as well.

3 - Simplicity is Everything

Keep it simple.  Get very clear on the colours and fonts you’re going to use.  You should have 1-2 focus colours or bold colours, which appear most often on your site, and 2-3 complementing colours or neutral colours, which don’t compete for attention but are everywhere as well.

White space is equally important, as it can provide visual relief, contrast, and organization. The complimenting colours are what make your focus colours pop and stand out.

The same concept will apply to fonts and imagery. Establishing your core brand colours will simplify your content creation process keeping your social feeds very cohesive.

4 - Be Consistent

Sticking to the same colours and designs will become your trademark or signature for your personal brand.  This ensures that no matter what you do, people will recognize you easily and come to expect consistency from your service.  This is just as true as your own name.  Just as how your name alone will tell those you know who you are, your personality, what you stand for, in the same way a consistent look and feel will eventually become the brand and soul of your business.

5 - Define your Tagline

Feature a short description above the page fold of what you do and how you can help people. My tagline reads “Helping you build your brand and business on Social”.  When people come to your site, it immediately lets them know if they’re in the right place and weeds out non-customers.

You are here to run a business and not to make friends. Now along the way if those you work with become your friends and champions that is gold!

6 - Provide Value For Free.

Offer visitors free content that solves one of their problems with no strings attached ( no sneaky op-in buttons). You’re basically letting them know your’re there and giving them a taste of what you do.  The better your free content, the more people will desire your paid content, so be generous.

Value based marketing is the key to attraction marketing. Big social moguls like Gary Vee and Tony Robins are constantly sharing tons of gems for free building trust with their viewers.  Follow the same strategy. Let your free content reside on social and if people choose to work with you, they can get more information on your digital store front.

7 - Invest in professional training

By training, it doesn’t mean “pay someone a one-time fee of a couple thousand dollars to create your entire site for you.” Instead, I am talking about investing time and effort into learning the skills you need to build a professional-looking site yourself.

Know it before you outsource it. This way you will always be able to make tweak without being dependant on others.
